Evidence for the Aetiological Theories: Genetic
Positive family history of schizophrenia raises the individual's risk. This is at least partly the result of genetic factors: probably multiple genes. The extent of these genetic factors is illustrated by the very different levels of risk shown below. Note: if an identical twin of a schizophrenic does not develop the illness, their children will still have the same risk of developing schizophrenia as the children of the schizophrenic twin.
