Mental illnesses aren’t always easy to get to grips with during the short psychiatry attachments. This section of the Portal tries to make your task easier by presenting psychiatric concepts in a more easily digestible way.

Wherever possible we show figures and concepts in a visually memorable way in the hope that you will really grasp how the information fits together in the “bigger picture”.

This section is not an online textbook – we want to help you to make sense of the knowledge base, rather than trying to cover "all the facts". When revising for exams you may want to refresh your understanding by returning to this section, but you will still need to go to the recommended texts, your lecture notes etc. for factual content.
