The short-term outlook for depression is good.
Treatment of depression results in 60-70% recovery rate within 1 year
Poor prognostic indicators include:
- Early age of 1st episode (<20 years)
- Multiple previous episodes
- Chronic Dysthymia
- Comorbid substance misuse
- Severe psychotic depression
