Anxiety Disorders are approximately 30% heritable – meaning that about 1/3rd of the risk of developing an Anxiety Disorder is due to genetic inheritance, whereas 2/3rds of the risk is determined by the person’s environment and life experiences. This combination of factors seems to result in ingrained changes in how the brain deals with fear.
