How the Different Types of dementia are Diagnosed

Although we can be certain that a patient has a dementia, we can't be absolutely certain exactly which type of dementia they have.

Once the patient has been examined investigated, we can state that a specific type is "possible" or "probable".

We can only identify a "definite" type once the patient's brain has been examined at post-mortem.
