Impaired Insight

The patient’s insight is impaired, in that he doesn’t believe he is ill (i.e. lacks insight into illness) but he is prepared to have treatment (i.e. has some insight into benefits of treatment). Notice how the health professional doesn’t get into an argument about whether he’s ill or not; instead she talks about treatment in terms which suggest a tangible benefit to him.
