Appearance: He has neglected to tuck in his right shirt collar suggesting some disregard for his appearance or ? haste in dressing.

Behaviour: He is restless in his chair, his eyes roving the room, invading the interviewer’s personal space. He is excitable and makes disinhibited comments about the interviewer’s appearance, answers his phone, sings.

Speech: He has a nearly continuous flow of rapid, high pitched speech that is loud and excitable.

Disorders of thought: The content of his speech gives us an insight into his thought process. He demonstrates abrupt changes from topic to topic, based on discernible associations, distractions, or plays on words - “flight of ideas”
