Supplementary Feeding Programmes
SFP can be implemented either as blanket or targeted programmes. Blanket SFP offer everyone a ration for a defined period in an identified target group, for instance all children below 5 years. Targeted SFP offer a supplementary ration to specific members of vulnerable groups (e.g. moderately malnourished children under five years). The criteria for admitting children into SFP, therefore, depend on which of these approaches is used.

When the targeted approach is used, the criteria for admitting children into a SFP are:

• MUAC between 115mm to 125mm or
• Weight-for-height z-score between -2 and -3SD or
• SAM children discharged from outpatient therapeutic care.
