Click each step to see the description and its accompanying animation.
Step 1: preparing the scale
Place the scale on a flat, level surface to minimise reading errors.
Check that the display reads zero and check that the scale is stable.
Explain all procedures to Kofi’s parents before measuring the child.
Step 2: explaining and removing outer clothing, shoes, and socks
Explain to Kofi about the need to stand still. Once you are satisfied
with the equipment remove his outer clothes, shoes, and socks.
Step 3: checking posture
Ask Kofi to stand in the middle of the scales, put his feet slightly
apart (on the footprints, if marked) and to remain still until the
weight that appears on the display becomes stable.
Step 4: reading the measurement
When the weight is stable, read it to nearest 10.0g.
Put Kofi’s outer clothes back on immediately and check that the scale has returned to the zero position.
