What parents and carers need to learn
All parents and carers should know how to prevent malnutrition from recurring after their child is discharged. In order to achieve this, you should ensure that the child’s parents or carers understand:

1) the link between illness, poor appetite and malnutrition;
2) how to keep children healthy (e.g. importance of good hygiene,     immunisations, deworming);
3) how to feed and care for the child;
4) danger signs of infection and when to seek medical help;
5) where and when to go for follow-up.

Q. What else do you think parents and carers should learn before
their child is discharged? Select the three most important ones.

a) How to prepare energy-dense mixtures of foods.
b) How to put their child to sleep.
c) How often to feed their child.
d) How to teach their child to walk.
e) How to play with their child.
